Bio

JT Moring is a dynamic entertainer known for incisive songs/stories and audience engagement. He performs solo on guitar or banjo, and in collaboration with a collection of San Diego County’s top musicians.

His five-year run with Gemini Junction, encompassing two albums and uncounted performances, from the Star of India to the Spring Harp Fest, ended with the pandemic. After spending much of 2021 producing his first solo album, 2022 found him taking that material onstage during COVID lulls, at Balboa Park EarthFair and Adams Avenue Unplugged, among others.

In 2023, he teamed up with Dave Ombrello (5-string viola, mandolin) to perform a Celtic-inspired set full of fiddle tunes, traditional Irish songs, and related originals. Moving into 2024, he’s honing his solo show, performing regularly with Storytellers of San Diego, and starting his next album, which will feature guest spots from such local notables as Peggy Watson, Robert Parker, and Marty Schwartz.

Only Just a Man

JT’s first solo album, Only Just a Man, is now up in all the places you’d expect. Read the spectacular review in the December 2021 San Diego Troubadour magazine, where we get compared to Woody Guthrie, Mississippi John Hurt, ‘Alice’s Restaurant,’ Pete Seeger AND the Weavers.
